Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Bluewater Health!
Volunteers at Bluewater Health provide quality and continuous support to patients, visitors and staff. Over 700 volunteers at Bluewater Health share a strong sense of commitment and respect. They all have a desire to help others and give back to the community. They contribute their unique talents, skills and support to provide personalized attention to our patients and visitors, enabling our doctors and staff to concentrate on the work for which they are trained.
HELP Volunteers
The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is an innovative approach to improving the hospital experience for older adults (70+) who are at risk of cognitive and/or physical decline while in hospital.
With direction from the Elder Life Specialist, volunteers provide patients with engaging activities and ensure patients are comfortable and oriented to their surroundings. They are provided with Intervention Activities to help maintain their cognitive, physical and emotional well-being while in hospital, with the goal of maximizing their independence at time of discharge.
As a HELP volunteer, you will assist with providing patients with the following four Intervention Activities:
- Daily Visitor
- Therapeutic Activities
- Active Range of Motion exercises
- Meal Assistance
It is the goal of HELP to provide patients with three visits per day, seven days per week at both our Sarnia and Petrolia hospitals. Please HELP us achieve our goal.
